Speeding Ticket Information

Categories:

The arrival of a speeding ticket can be devastating news. So many speed cameras are strategically placed to catch motorists out where the speed limit decreases without much warning. If you’ve received a notice of intended prosecution in the post you’ll probably want speeding ticket information regarding the allegation.

If you write to the policing authority you can request a calibration certificate of the camera that allegedly caught you speeding. The calibration certificate should state when the camera was last tested and accurately measured. If an accurate calibration certificate cannot be produced then you may stand good grounds for an appeal.

You’ll also want the policing authority to produce photographic evidence of your speeding allegation. After all, in this county you are innocent until proven guilty, not the other way around. If the policing authority cannot produce hard evidence that a car you own was driving in excess of the speed limit then, again, you may stand good grounds for an appeal.

It’s important to understand that many speeding tickets are given out in error. This means the driver that is being prosecuted for an offence is actually innocent and did not drive in excess of the speed limit.

Unfortunately in these modern driving times it is often the drivers who must prove their innocence to keep a clean driving licence. If you know you weren’t speeding and you receive a speeding ticket make sure you appeal. Ask for the evidence and make sure you stand your ground. If you’re not sure if you were driving in excess of the speed limit; again, ask for the evidence.
